This 1984 Swinnerton bicycle was hand built by George Longstaff using Reynolds 531 tubing. It was made for Chris Bailey who rode for the Swinnerton racing team. Swinnertons Cycles was established in 1915. Roy Swinnerton took over the shop in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent in 1952 from his father Ted. The bike shop sourced their frames from a number of different frame builders, including George Longstaff, before he went on to open his own shop. They also had a few frames built by Mercian and later Keith Coppall. Roy was an excellent grass track racer and went on to become National Team Mechanic at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Made from the finest Reynolds 531c frame and forks for a nifty ride and topped off with a Brooks Cambium saddle for instant comfort.
